George Petrie was the second chairman of Lagcoe. He was preceded by R.D.Cloninger and succeeded by W.A. Grapes. He was part of the first executive committee of Lagcoe, and later became part of the board of directors. He was the founder of Sun Oil Company. Petrie contributions to Lagcoe set the foundations for other chairmen to improve on. He was the general and co-chairman of the 1957 Lagcoe exhibition. Although, he retired in 1971, he was an active supporter of Lagcoe even in his final years. Petrie served as advisor to Lagcoe board of directors until his death.
