Frank Harrison was born in Bastrop. He joined his father in 1952 after receiving his petroleum geology. In 1956 he moved to work as a district geologist for TransTex Drilling Company before starting his company in 1959. Harrison has received numerous awards during his more than 50 years as a geologist and civic leader. An alumnus of LSU, he widely recognized by his peers in the oil and gas industry. He is the founder of Optimistic Oil Co. In 2009 he earned the Lagcoe Looey. The title recognized Harrison’s lifetime of contributions to the Gulf Coast energy industry.
