"The LAGCOE Fun Shoot is an event with the sole purpose of getting people together to have a good time,” said Tom Hebert, chairman of the LAGCOE Fun Shoot. "We just want for people to come out, shoot a few rounds, and network with energy industry colleagues and friends.”
Shooters are encouraged to register online at http://conta.cc/1PzQ1YF and to make plans to bring their families out to the shoot. Young Professionals of LAGCOE have made arrangements for family friendly activities the day of the shoot to take place on the non-shooting range grounds at GOL Shooting Complex to accommodate all ages. There will also be a cookout for shooters and their families.
In the past, Young Professionals of LAGCOE hosted an event called LAGCOE Sporting Clays, which raised more than $200,000 for the LAGCOE Education Fund, a fund through Community Foundation of Acadiana which provides education for and about the industry to both industry personnel and the general public. Given the state of the industry, Young Professionals of LAGCOE decided that it would be best to host the LAGCOE Fun Shoot instead of LAGCOE Sporting Clays this year.
"In times like these, we all need to remember just how important it is to continue to network and have a good time with colleagues, friends and family. We are happy to host this event and help to make that happen for oilfield families,” Hebert said.
The 2016 Young Professionals of LAGCOE Mentor Program will kick off with a luncheon, where Frank’s International President and CEO Gary Luquette will speak about the importance of mentorship in the workplace. More information about this luncheon will be available online at LAGCOE.com/youngprofessionals in the upcoming weeks.
"The YPL mentor program has been a tremendously important and success program in the past,” said Tully Blanchard, Young Professionals of LAGCOE Chairman. "Now, more than ever, is the time for young professionals to learn from experienced industry professionals.”
Later this spring, the second round of Future Energy Professionals’ scholarships will be awarded to deserving students, wishing to study Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics at a Louisiana university or college. The students who are eligible to apply for this scholarship participated in the Future Energy Professionals tours of LAGCOE 2015. Applications will be available for these eligible students in March.
Another Young Professionals of LAGCOE springtime tradition is the YPL Invitational Golf Tournament. In its third year, this event continues to be another great networking opportunity for YPL members and their guests. Visit LAGCOE.com/yplgolftournament for information and to learn how to participate.
