LAGCOE SELECTS ALYSE NAQUIN FOUNDATION, INC. AS BENEFICIARY OF PART OF PROCEEDS FROM ROUX FEST GUMBO COOKOFF

Lafayette, LA - [January 23, 2024] Lagcoe is proud to announce the selection of the Alyse Naquin Foundation, Inc. as the beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from the Roux Fest Gumbo Cookoff. The foundation, created in honor of Alyse Naquin, is dedicated to supporting kidney patients and their families throughout their journey against kidney disease and related rare diseases.

Alyse Naquin's story is a testament to resilience, courage, and the impact of community support. Diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome/Minimal Change Disease at the age of 11, Alyse faced a rapid decline in kidney function, leading to FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis). Her battle included multiple hospital admissions, kidney biopsies, and the necessity of peritoneal dialysis.

In a statement, Lagcoe Executive Director, Fumy Rita, expressed her excitement about supporting the Alyse Naquin Foundation, Inc. and bringing more awareness to Alyse's inspiring story. "Alyse's journey is a source of inspiration for us all. Lagcoe is honored to contribute to the foundation's mission of helping kidney patients and their families from prevention to post-transplant."

Alyse, now a resilient 17-year-old, has not let her medical challenges deter her spirit. Maintaining a remarkable 3.57/4.0 GPA, she is a senior at St. Thomas More Catholic High School and has been accepted into the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she plans to major in Kinesiology with aspirations to attend Physician Assistant (PA) school.

The Alyse Naquin Foundation, Inc. aims to make a difference in the lives of kidney patients and their families, providing support at every stage of their fight against kidney disease. The foundation's commitment aligns with Lagcoe's values of community involvement and making a positive impact.

With the support of Lagcoe and its stakeholders, the Alyse Naquin Foundation, Inc. will continue to provide assistance to children and families facing the challenges of kidney disease. Together, they hope to bring smiles to the faces of those in need and make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals battling kidney-related illnesses.

Additionally, the Roux Fest Gumbo Cookoff is scheduled for February 8, 2024, at the Blackham Coliseum. With more than 50 teams, the competition presented by QuarterNorth Energy promises to be unforgettable.
